8 signs of a smooth interview

Are you a potential candidate in the eyes of the employer

There is no way to know for sure the results immediately after the interview, but we can still assess the situation on our own through some positive signs. Try to see if you are a potential candidate in the eyes of the employer!

Are you a potential candidate in the eyes of the employer

1. The conversation took longer than expected

If the interview is longer than your imagination or more than the initial expected time, then this is a sign that the interviewer is particularly interested in what you say. For example, interviews usually only take about 30 minutes to complete whether in person, via video call or phone call. If they ask for details, beyond the usual screening sentences, they may be thinking that this is the right candidate for the job. Be ready to share details of the work process, skills and experience that prove you are valuable personnel during work.

2. You meet more people than expected

Often in the appointment email, the employer will announce that the personnel representative and direct manager will interview. But if you come and get to meet more than the people mentioned, maybe the company is interested in whether this candidate will be able to integrate with others in the group. If, after all, they even introduce people in charge of some kind of work, perhaps you are particularly impressed!

3. They ask Can you start work early

It's usually a good sign if the interviewer asks how early you can start getting a job. Especially if they ask at the end of the interview. It is almost as if they are posing a situation that you are a future employee to outline the next steps in the recruitment process.

Be honest and let them know how long you will need to notify the old company, or how long it takes to prepare, as the old job should be finished in the best possible circumstances.

4. They say that you ” seem fit”

Sometimes the employer's way of speaking sounds like you are the right choice. For example, they are happy to have a candidate who has qualifications like you. Even, they ” transferred the CV to the higher level”. Talking about the next steps may mean they're looking to speed up the hiring process.

5. They ask Are you considering other job opportunities

Sometimes employers ‘ask questions ‘ about how your job search is or whether you are applying for other companies. This sentence suggests that they may be calculating a competitive offer so as not to lose the candidate to the rival company. Or maybe they're looking for competitors in the recruitment market.

This depends on when they ask. If the recruiter asks this question early, then maybe it's just one question in the available questionnaire. But if the question appears at the end of the conversation, it seems that they want to have you on the team and are considering whether they need to act quickly.

6. The interviewer was excited

Are they in a good mood? A positive sign that the interview is going well. It's especially true if they laugh or discuss any personal topic such as hobbies – they may be trying to understand who you are and visualize how you will fit into the group.

If the conversation goes from traditional interviews to discussing why you should work at the company? They seem to be trying to get you more excited about this position. For example, they talk about benefits such as vacation policies, health insurance, and even plans to distribute housing to employees.

7. They started talking about the Working Group

If they share more vivid descriptions of the position, such as: people in groups, people with whom you will coordinate closely or typical tasks of the day… Or how they showcase the potential team, how your colleagues are, you're probably already envisioned as a team member.

8. They end the interview with detailed promises

If the meeting ends with more details about the company, or the promise “I want you to have the opportunity to meet manager X”, my friend, it seems favorable!

In mid – level management positions, they may mention the next time you meet with the CEO or other key people on the board of directors. If they say they're likely to appoint you back next week, they want to make a decision early. Rarely, but they may also send business cards for candidates to contact if more information is needed.

What about if your meeting doesn't have the above signals, or only 1-2 signals and you still feel uncertain? Don't worry, sooner or later we'll know the outcome. In the meantime, review your strengths and things to compensate for this or any position. Good luck!
